Wow! This is super inspiring.

Want to have a strategy for aging well and living better that’s easy and fun?

I just finished reading Brain Power by Michael Gelb and Kelly Howell and it was packed with lots of ideas.

Here’s 5 that every one of us can incorporate today.

ATTITUDE – Our attitude towards aging dictates how well we age and our overall longevity. If we look forward to aging as a time when we get wiser, can celebrate life more deeply and pursue things that feed the spirit it can lead to an 8 year difference in life span.

QUESTION TO SELF – How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were?

YOUTHFUL EATING – Scientists estimate that the average human body is composed of 50 – 75 trillion cells and over 100 billion neurons. All these cells completely reconstruct more than twice per year. That’s means that if we eat well, as in nutrient dense foods, our new cells will be healthier than the old ones. So we actually get healthier and younger as we age.

QUESTION TO SELF – If you don’t take care of your body where are you going to live?

Check out these Yummy Aging posts – YUMMY EATS FOOD AND JUICES TO LOWER CHOLESTEROL SWEET POTATO SOUP YUMMY RAW KALE RECIPES FOR GLOWING SKIN RECIPES TO REDUCE INFLAMMATION GREEN GODDESS

DRINK UP – The average human body is 55 – 65% water, but our brain is 80% water. So if we stay hydrated and eat water rich foods we are feeding the brain and our brain function goes up.

QUESTION TO SELF – Want to eat your water? Here are the top water dense foods and their water content-cucumber (97%), iceberg lettuce (95%),celery (95%), radishes (95%), tomatoes (94%), green pepper (94%), cauliflower (92%), watermelon (91%), spinach (91%), strawberries (91%).

REST– Rest is not limited to sleeping. There are 2 kinds of rest – passive rest which is sleep and naps and and active rest which can be mental (meditation/daydreaming/spiritual pursuit), social (time with family and friends), physical (creative activities, nature walks, pursuing passions) prioritize and find time for both.

QUESTION TO SELF – Do you know what your passions are? If not get going! Check out these –

Check out these Red Shoe posts –CREATING LIFE OF PASSION & PURPOSE 10 SIGNS OF PASSION FINDING PASSION

MOVE in NATURE – When we move in nature it provides a double whammy. A recent study took a 100 people and divided them into 2 groups – one group walked in the city the other walked in nature. They were then tested on creative performance. The group who spent time in nature out performed by 20% the group who walked in the city.

QUESTION TO SELF – Where can you find nature in your area? Walking is free. It calms the nervous system and the mind if we walk in nature with friends and loved ones we become (even) brighter, smarter, healthier and more creative!

Wow!
