In the last few months more than a few friends have been told by their doctors that they have elevated cholesterol and<\/em> if they want to avoid medication and significant health challenges (strokes, heart attacks, narrowing of the arteries and angina) it\u2019s time to embark on dietary changes\u2014now!<\/em>\u00a0 The exciting part is that the changes are not ominous but rather a tweaking of diets already on the right path.<\/p>\n

THE FOODS –\u00a0<\/strong>A study from Rochester, Minnesota\u2019s Mayo Clinic <\/a>identified the importance of diet in lowering cholesterol. \u00a0It identified the Top 5 Foods capable of lowering cholesterol and protecting heart and vascular health.\u00a0 So stock up on these cholesterol fighters. Bon Appetit!<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Oatmeal and oat bran<\/li>\n
  2. Fish and omega 3 fatty acids – ( especially salmon, halibut, albacore, tuna, mackerel, sardines and lake trout)<\/li>\n
  3. Walnuts, almonds and other nuts<\/li>\n
  4. Olive oil<\/li>\n
  5. All fruits and veggies – recommended 20 – 35 grams per day<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    THE JUICES –\u00a0<\/strong>Juices are my go-to<\/em> to pack a BIG nutrition punch and the daily quota of goodness in a glass. They are easy on the digestive system and provide abundant energy while supporting a multitude of health issues. \u00a0Here are 8 juice recipes that aid in reducing blood cholesterol levels. If you haven\u2019t already invested in a juicer do it now.\u00a0 I have a moderately priced Breville Fountain that has been used constantly<\/em> for 3 years. I love it. \u00a0It\u2019s worth taking a look at.<\/p>\n

    Wake me UP and reduce my cholesterol <\/strong>(complex taste blasts cholesterol)\u00a0–\u00a0<\/strong>2 apples, 3 carrots, 3 stalks celery, 1 inch ginger root, 2 lemons peeled, 2 pears, 2 thumbs turmeric root<\/p>\n

    Beet a retreat<\/em> cholesterol <\/strong>(sweet with a little tang) –\u00a02 apples, 1 beet, 6 carrots, 1 thumb ginger, \u00bd lemon peeled<\/p>\n

    The GREENIE is great for cholesterol busting, increased energy and radiant skin<\/p><\/div>\n

    In a Heart Beet <\/strong>(sweet with a splash of fresh citrus) –\u00a01 green apple, 1 beet root, 6 carrots, I lemon, 2 oranges peeled<\/p>\n

    For the GREENies\u00a0<\/strong>(the green<\/em> taste isn\u2019t for everyone but if it\u2019s yours this is great for cholesterol busting, increased energy and radiant skin) –\u00a04 green apples, 3 stalks celery, 2 kale leaves, 1 lemon peeled, 4 cups spinach<\/p>\n

    Summer breeze<\/strong> (this can be blended vs juiced-add water or coconut juice for drinkable consistency) –\u00a03 stalks basil, 2 cups blueberries, pinch cayenne, 1 lime peeled, 5 cups water melon<\/p>\n

    Rainbow <\/strong>(gives skin a radiant glow while helping to reduce cholesterol) –\u00a01 apple, 5 carrots, 1 cucumber, 1 thumb ginger, 1 lemon peeled, 1 pear, 2 handfuls of spinach<\/p>\n

    Purple passion is an acquired taste but great at lowering cholesterol<\/p><\/div>\n

    ABC <\/strong>(super simple a little on the sweet side) –\u00a02 apples, 1 beet root, 6 carrots.<\/p>\n

    Lemon Essence <\/strong>(lemon and ginger cuts sweetness of carrots and apple) –\u00a01 apple, 8 carrots, 1 thumb ginger root, 1 lemon peeled.<\/p>\n
