Not me.<\/p>\n
That was until the red shoes came into my life.<\/p>\n
They would offer profound lessons, be the source of great FUN, lead to the Red Shoe Project and finally the creation of the Red Shoe Zone, aiming to help women fearlessly reDiscover themselves at mid life.<\/p>\n
It all began innocently enough. My husband and I were in California for our daughter\u2019s university graduation and one afternoon we took a trip to the charming seaside town of Capitola with friends. One of our group (a shoe lover) veered off course and was located in he town’s only shoe store. I stayed behind and waited as she shopped for new acquisitions.<\/p>\n
I settled in for a long nap, checked messages and lapped the store several times before unconsciously lifting a heavy looking red shoe from its display perch.<\/p>\n
Why not, it would give me something to do. \u201cUmm\u2026Do you have these in a size 9?\u201d<\/em> I mutter to the clerk. \u201cWOW this must be your lucky day\u201d,<\/em>\u00a0she trills back, \u201cwe have one pair left and they’re in your size!\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n I watched as she extracted the shoe from the box with dramatic flourish.<\/p>\n I looked at the shoe. A total alien, it looked like nothing I would wear and it was RED! I pulled it on. \u201cYou\u2019ve got to get them!\u201d<\/em> my friend explodes. I stood up and looked at my feet. Not mine.<\/p>\n These were definitely not my<\/em> feet. I quickly sat down and began pulling off the shoes. \u201cYou<\/em> MUST get these shoes\u201d<\/em> my friend instructs. I thank the clerk as I hand them back.<\/p>\n \u201cYOU HAVE TO GET THESE SHOES!!\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>This was getting intense. Everyone in the store was now looking at us, \u201cAaaaahhhhh…..I\u2019ll take the shoes<\/em>\u201d I mutter to the clerk.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/ohmywordjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/02\/Cheryl-Wilson-Stewart_redshoeproject2.jpg\")
\u201cYou\u2019ve got to try those on!\u201d<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0My friend’s voice fills the tiny store. I was about to explain I only<\/em> wear black shoes when I stopped.<\/p>\n
